Before the snow falls
Winter, dull, grey,
Trees, naked, skeletal
Branches bend in the wind
Threaten to break
Brown grass, dead leaves
The ground is dead
Bitter wind
Bites cheeks and noses
Animals hide
Everything is dead

A white star falls from
then another
Falling, falling
Cover the ground
A blanket
White, fresh, bright
Trees, draped in white
Branches sag
burdened with diamonds
Sugar covers the earth
Refreshing wind
Makes rosy cheeks and noses
Animals play
Everything is fresh
